The upcoming Nov. 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra has continued to generate discussions across various circles, including social media.

As expected, candidates in the election and their supporters are plotting ways to ensure they emerge victorious.

The chairperson of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Joash Amupitan, and security agencies have also deployed their operatives to the state to oversee the election.

Ahead of the election, Chukwuma Soludo, the incumbent governor seeking re-election, has remained a subject of online discussion. The conversations concern the Solution General Hospital in Anaku, Ayamelum, which the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate commissioned in October 2025.

Some social media users claimed that the project was not functional and alleged that the governor had commissioned it to deceive the people and garner votes during the election.

In some videos circulating online, users claimed the facility was locked and added that health workers were not available at the facility.

However, other social media users faulted the narrative and hailed the governor for making the facility available to members of the community.

DUBAWA observed how these conversations have taken on a political overtone and how this could discourage people from seeking medical attention at the facility, due to claims that the facility is non-functional.

Given its potential impact on the people and the election in general, DUBAWA probed the claim to ascertain its veracity.

Verification

DUBAWA’s stringer visited the facility on Nov. 5, 2025, without prior notice and observed that there were activities ongoing in the hospital. In videos and pictures shared with DUBAWA, health personnel were seen in the facility.

Some patients were seen seated in the waiting area receiving care. One man was seen in the nurse’s station getting his vitals checked.

Additionally, a journalist in the state who wished to remain anonymous stated that the hospital is operational, disputing claims circulating on social media that its commissioning was politically motivated.

“Some people went there but didn’t even enter the hospital. Yet, they made videos claiming it wasn’t functioning.

“In reality, the hospital is fully operational — free hernia surgeries were conducted, patients were on admission, and a woman even delivered her baby there, marking the hospital’s first delivery,” he said.

While Soludo’s claim that the facility has 65 health practitioners could not be substantiated at the time of this report, DUBAWA’s findings showed that the facility is functional.

Conclusion

The claim that the Anyamelum General Hospital in the Anaku area of Anambra State, commissioned by Soludo, is not operational is false. DUBAWA confirmed that the facility is open and currently being used by residents of the state.
