A Facebook user, Comrd Yarima Bk, shared a post claiming that armed bandits attacked Lambar Charanci (Lambar Rimi) community along the Katsina–Kano Highway and shot two residents.
The post (archived here), published on June 28, 2026, alleged that the attack occurred on Sunday night, raising concerns among residents and travellers familiar with the route.
Although the post lacked supporting evidence, it quickly attracted public attention due to the prevailing security challenges in Katsina State.
As of June 29, 2026, the post had generated 1,300 reactions, 179 comments, and 53 shares, with many users expressing fear and sympathy over the alleged incident.
One Facebook user, Ahmed Abubakar Sadiq, sympathising with the victims, wrote, “Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.”
Another user, Sharhabi Sani, reacted to the post, saying, “What is even more painful is that they now move around with vehicles. May Allah bring peace to our country.”
The reactions suggest that several users accepted the claim as genuine without independently verifying the information.
Given the sensitivity of security-related information and the potential for false reports to cause unnecessary panic and fear, DUBAWA decided to verify the claim.
Verification
To verify the claim, DUBAWA contacted residents of Lambar Charanci community.
Abubakar Badamasi, a commercial motorcycle rider (Okada operator) residing in the community, dismissed the claim, stating that no bandit attack occurred in the community on the reported night.
Similarly, Khalid Abdurrahman, a farmer and community resident, described the report as false. He confirmed that residents did not witness any attack or shooting incident as claimed in the Facebook post.
To further verify, DUBAWA contacted CSP Gambo Isah, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rimi Division.
The DPO also refuted the claim, confirming that the police did not receive any report of a bandit attack or shooting in Lambar Charanchi community on the said date.
Furthermore, DUBAWA found no statement from the Katsina State Police Command or any credible media organisation reporting such an incident.
Conclusion
Residents and the Police DPO for the location refuted the claim that bandits attacked the Lambar Charanchi (Lambar Rimi) community along the Katsina–Kano Highway or shot two residents. The claim is therefore false.
