Okra is enjoyed as a vegetable soup in various dishes. Due to its mucilaginous properties, it is also used to thicken soups, stews, and sauces. The Yorubas call it “Ila,” the Igbos call it Igbo, Olewele, while the Hausas call it Kubewa.
