For example, in 2017, a member of Nairaland <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nairaland.com\/4046504\/mixing-malt-milk-give-blood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shared that the combination of malt and milk increase blood volume<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Similarly in 2020, Zikoko, a popular blog in Nigeria, shared some of the homemade means Nigerian mothers use to increase their children&#8217;s blood volume. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zikoko.com\/chopist\/5-food-combinations-nigerians-use-as-blood-tonic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Malt and milk combination came first on the supposed list<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/XiVIlaV6fSj8FhK2Sf5tTvuuWcxcmRcyyLYr9WclKsKSErRQiHAb0pzvogq_axnmgvtQRgRloT1Wlm-ek54cPMcam3sWWdfqOsZp5-fXnowCLuqr3y8MVvHA4XFc29fLO8Dp0dhi\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><figcaption><em>The screenshot of the claim on Zikoko<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2021, another news website shared that <a href=\"https:\/\/m.scooper.news\/nigeria\/2021\/05\/14\/does-milk-and-malt-really-give-blood-and-add-weight-check-this-out\/14874011\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the combination gives blood<\/a>. This shows this claim is popular but our research on this claim did not yield any result.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We, therefore, sought the opinion of experts on the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Experts Opinion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Professor of Public Health Nutrition at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Beatrice Ogunba, <a href=\"https:\/\/healthwise.punchng.com\/consuming-mixture-of-milk-malt-wont-increase-blood-volume-nutritionist\/#:~:text=Some%20malts%20are%20also%20fortified,no%20scientific%20evidence%20for%20that.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revealed to Punch<\/a> that there is no scientific evidence to the assertion made by some Nigerians that combining malt and milk boosts blood volume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ayoade-moses-adekunle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Adedeji Moses<\/a>, a clinical nutritionist who is the&nbsp; Lead Director of <a href=\"https:\/\/adedamz-nutrition-consult.business.site\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Adedamz Nutrition Consult<\/a>, also revealed to DUBAWA that the combination of malt and milk does not, in any way, increase blood volume in the body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThough it has been seen in many hospitals after people have donated their blood, milk&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and malt, or the combination of both were given to blood to donors.
