He <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sanjos_brand\/status\/1612763562262372352?t=MnylMFNlTUSOWtkwKQuW6g&amp;s=19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">commented<\/a>, &#8220;Obi had produced one before &#8211; Dame Virgy Etiaba, Nov 2006. stop this first female governor in Nigeria [sic].&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of the time of publication, the post has attracted over 90,000 views, 150 comments, 300 retweets and 1,000 likes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In view of conflicting comments, DUBAWA chose to fact-check this claim to set the records straight and educate Nigerians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Verification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DUBAWA carried out a quick Google check of the first female governor in Nigeria and found a <a href=\"https:\/\/von.gov.ng\/governor-soludo-congratulates-nigerias-first-female-governor-at-80\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a> by Voice of Nigeria where the current governor of Anambra, Prof Charles Soludo, congratulated Ms Virginia Etiaba on her 80th birthday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Governor Soludo Congratulates Nigeria\u2019s First Female Governor At 80,&#8221; the headline reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Similarly, in 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari congratulated Ms Virginia Etiaba on her 77th birthday, where the president described her as &#8220;the good teacher who completely altered the history of Nigeria as first female governor between November 2006 and February 2007.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2006, Sahara Reporters <a href=\"https:\/\/saharareporters.com\/2006\/11\/02\/breaking-news-peter-obi-anambra-state-impeached-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> that the then-governor of Anambra, Peter Obi, had been impeached for &#8216;impropriety in office.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During his impeachment period, his deputy, Ms Virginia Etiaba, became the first female governor of Nigeria.
