Many people who claim that the elections were not free and fair continue to hope that pronouncements from world leaders will delegitimise the process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n So it wasn\u2019t a shock when Victor Iorbula<\/a>, a Facebook user, shared six screenshots on a Facebook group, purportedly from international media organisations reporting that world leaders called to cancel the polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The headline in the first screenshot, purportedly from AP News, reads, \u201cAngry Biden calls for the cancellation of Nigeria 2023 election.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The second screenshot, purportedly from Financial Times, reads, \u201cAngry Putin warns Nigeria Government and demands cancellation of the 2023 fraudulent polls.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Also, another screenshot purportedly from South African-based News 24 reads, \u201cU.K Prime Minister reacts heavily, alleges rigging by INEC, calls for cancellation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n India\u2019s TV broadcaster, NDTV, as one of the screenshots purportedly was from them, reads, \u201cXi Jinping calls for total cancellation of Nigeria 2023 poll.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n The next one, with the name of the media organisation not legible, reads, \u201cMacron describes Nigeria’s INEC Chairman’s action as \u2018highest level of irresponsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n And the last screenshot is purportedly from the Times of India, with the caption \u201cU.N Antonio Guterres alleges corruption in Nigeria electoral body, calls for cancellation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The post generated different opinions, with many calling it fake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Igba Igburu<\/a>, who called out the author as a peddler of falsehood, advised the claimant to stop sharing untrue stories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cStop spreading falsehood. Even after the election, heaven is still real,\u201d Mr Igburu commented. <\/p>\n\n\n\n But others believed the screenshot was genuine and from acclaimed sources.
