Recently, viral social media posts claim that a Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Hakeem Odumosu, has been appointed the substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Recall that President Bola Tinubu had suspended the erstwhile EFCC chairman, AbdulRasheed Bawa, due to \u201cweighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him.\u201d On Tuesday, the president also replaced service chiefs and appointed an acting Inspector General of Police (IGP).\u00a0 Consequently, a report had now circulated on Facebook, Twitter and some other blogs claiming the appointment of the former Lagos Police Commissioner as EFCC chairman had taken effect from Tuesday, June 20.
