The man breaks a Samson record. He defeated a lion while he was on his farm, the lion attacked him, but he defeated the lion with his bare hands, a brave man from Akure, Ondo State (sic).\u201d The post, accompanied by pictures of a grievously injured man and a dead lion, reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The post generated over 7,000 likes and about 1,000 comments and has been shared by about 2,000 Facebook users. All the commenters appeared to have believed the story as they took turns to congratulate the man and wish him a quick recovery from his injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">A similar story was found to have been circulated online by blogs shortly before 9ja Celebrity News&#8217; post. The post featured prominently on many blogs, including <a href=\"https:\/\/idomavoice.com\/samson-of-kwande-benue-man-kills-lion-with-bare-hand-lands-in-hospital\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Idoma Voice<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/newtelegraphng.com\/man-53-kills-lion-with-bare-hands-at-ngokugh-mountain-in-benue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New Telegraph<\/a>. However, the blog story claimed that one Lorver Udele from Kwande, Benue State confronted the beast on his cassava farm and killed the big cat as the biblical Samson did. The accompanying pictures were similar to that of the 9ja Celebrity News post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Did a Nigerian man kill a lion in Ondo or Benue State?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Verification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Checks by DUBAWA show that a Twitter user Yawis (@yawisonline), first <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/yawisonline\/status\/1512837279554936837?t=bXx2YJCVz79CwfFXzJno8w&amp;s=19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shared<\/a> the pictures with the caption, \u201cMeanwhile in Uganda, this man wrestled and killed a lion,\u201d on April 9, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">However, in a statement released on the same day, the Uganda Wildlife Authority clarified that the incident involving a stray lion had happened a day earlier in the Kagadi District of the Country.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">In the statement, the UWA said: &#8220;One UPDF soldier, Cpl Amodoi Moses sighted the lion and tried to shoot it, but it jumped on him, seriously injuring him.
