Following DUBAWA\u2019s numerous fact-checks, Campus Catch Nigeria<\/a>, a Facebook blog with a history of spreading misinformation, has deleted four debunked claims on its page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout Aug. and Sept., DUBAWA published distinct articles, each debunking various claims disseminated by the blog. One of such assertions implied that Kogi State University had initiated a programme to provide free meals for its students. Upon thorough investigation, including contacting students and university officials, we found evidence proving this claim<\/a> to be false.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, the page propagated another statement asserting that Delta State University had mandated Pidgin language as a compulsory course. Yet again, after consulting with students and university authorities, we disproved<\/a> this information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the Facebook blog reported that Adeola Adeyeye from Ondo State had attained the title of Guinness World Record holder for the longest cooking hour. Our inquiry, referencing the Guinness World Records, revealed this information was inaccurate<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concurrently, the blog alleged that the Guinness World Records had prohibited further attempts by Nigerians to break world records, which, like the aforementioned claims, was also proven false<\/a>. Each fact check can be read here<\/a>, here<\/a>, here<\/a> and here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We noticed the removal of these statements on a recent visit to the page. Additionally, Campus Catch Nigeria has wiped out all posts made in Aug., preserving only those from July and earlier months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
