The governorship elections<\/a> of Kogi State, held on Nov 11, 2023, ushered in the administration of Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress. Mr Ododo\u2019s swearing-in<\/a> was hosted at the state capital, Lokoja, with the attendance of the past governor Yahaya Bello. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jimi Disu on X tweeted<\/a> that the newly inaugurated governor and his wife were seen prostrating before the former governor, Mr Bello, at the swearing-in ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Disu attached the inauguration picture with the caption:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhy are we so primitive? Newly inaugurated Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and his wife, prostrating for the immediate-past Governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello, in obeisance at the inauguration venue in Lokoja. Please pray for Nigeria.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bisi Oladipo commented, \u201cBaba, I know you understand. This shows where power resides. It shows that Bello is still the governor.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another user, Prince Yahaya, disagreeing with the post, wrote, \u201cIt was his deputy, not the governor oooo!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The post has garnered 734 likes, 331 reposts, and 61,000 views since it was published on Jan 28, 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conflicting comments and the personalities involved made DUBAWA investigate the claim. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We conducted a reverse image search on the image using INVid, a verification tool and found the video<\/a> form on Channels Television\u2019s X platform. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The footage showed the deputy governor, Joel Oyibo, prostrating before Mr Bello and his wife, not Mr Ododo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A keyword search also showed that Sahara Reporter<\/a> posted the picture with the headline \u201cKogi Deputy Governor, Joel Oyibo, prostrates self before Ex-Gov Yahaya Bello Immediately after Swearing-In.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hence, Mr Disu\u2019s post is false. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
