Checks by DUBAWA through image reverse verification show that the pictures of the roads constructed were from Ghana, not The Gambia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-full-text\"><strong>Full Text<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">After winning his re-election bid in 2021, among the promises made by The Gambian President Adama Barrow was to build more infrastructure, especially roads across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The Gambians are therefore anticipating the completion of these projects, mainly the 50km roads within the Greater Banjul Area funded by and for the Organization of Islamic (OIC) Conference, which The Gambia is due to host in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">A supporter of the ruling National People&#8217;s Party (NPP),<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/2cABv3NPtqHmM1H4\/?mibextid=ox5AEW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Babucarr Bahoum<\/a>, who frequently monitors the road construction, posted photos on his Facebook account claiming those roads were built in The Gambia according to President Barrow\u2019s promise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/web.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=10225996588241173&amp;set=pcb.10225996589241198\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Masterclass roads done by Dr Barrow in The Gambia.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">On Feb 12, 2024, the post on Facebook generated about 66 comments, eight reshares, and 75 reactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The comment section contained different opinions about the validity of the pictures and questions about where the roads have been constructed in The Gambia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">One Van Lkeita said, \u201cChe [SIC] Gambia people promote lies, open lies just to give credit to their master&#8230; misleading the general public is part of their agreement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Another Karra Touray said, \u201cEveryone is informed in this 21st century. People already knew where this is.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhich road is this?\u201d one Momodou Inkeh Bah asked.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ebrahimprof Bah said, \u201cEven the blind can tell this is not Gambia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Verification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">DUBAWA conducted a Google Reverse Image Search on the picture, which shows that the roads are constructed in Ghana and not in The Gambia. The road is in the OBUASI township in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Ghana\u2019s Deputy Information Minister, Fatimatu Abubakar, posted the pictures on her <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Fatimatu_A\/status\/1708436045321146459\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">X (Twitter) page<\/a> with the caption, \u201cHospital road Obuasi town Roads in Ashanti Region. The only road that has been completed so far is the road linking Westfield National Environmental Agency to the University of Apply Science and Technology, formerly Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI). The road that is near completion is the Brufut road.
