An image of a girl said to be pregnant has gone viral on Facebook. The  reports suggest  she gave birth in central Liberia (Bong County). The image posted by Thomas Kojo Roulhac  of Freedom Radio also alleged the teenager was 10-years-old.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the claimant, the girl delivered a baby weighing 5 pounds by cesarean operation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA 10-year-old girl on Sunday, March 17, 2024 gave birth in Bong County, making her one of the youngest mothers ever in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unnamed Kpelleh girl arrived at the Goodwill hospital in tears and “enormous pain” from the contractions, according to a journalist\u2019s account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She reportedly delivered her baby, who weighed 5 pounds, by cesarean section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts say a C-section delivery for such a young mother is not unusual\u201d The poster said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The post was reposted by other media Institutions<\/a> and bloggers<\/a>. This sparked a bit of suspicion and controversy amongst the public. This led DUBAWA to initiate a fact-check.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Magazine reported that the girl was a 12-year old orphan and a rape victim who was abandoned at a hospital during labour in Benue State.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe child named Masenengen Targba<\/strong> was dumped at the General Hospital, Makurdi located by an unknown person in the early hours of Sunday, August 4, 2019,\u201d the Magazine said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Again, our verification found out that this particular image has been used multiple times on social media and magazines<\/a> by claimants.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
