The video was fabricated. It was curated from different sources on the internet.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Full Text<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The Israel-Iran war is described as a covert one that has been ongoing for many years, but the April 13 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/04\/14\/world\/middleeast\/iran-attacks-israel-history.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">attack<\/a> on Israel was the first<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/04\/14\/world\/middleeast\/iran-attacks-israel-history.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <\/a>one by Iran from its territory. On April 13, Iran launched several missiles and drones at Israel. It was reported that the action was in retaliation for Israel\u2019s suspected<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/2024\/04\/14\/mapping-wide-scale-iranian-drone-missile-attacks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> attack<\/a> on an Iranian site in Damascus, Syria,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2024\/4\/14\/iran-attacks-israel-with-over-300-drones-missiles-what-you-need-to-know\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> killing<\/a> 13 people. Another report<a href=\"https:\/\/www.csis.org\/analysis\/assessing-israels-strike-iran\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> stated<\/a> that seven people were killed. However, most of the missiles and drones launched by Iran were<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/04\/14\/world\/middleeast\/iran-attacks-israel-history.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> intercepted<\/a>. There were fears the attack may<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/04\/15\/world-leaders-react-to-irans-unprecedented-air-assault-against-israel.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> lead<\/a> to World War III.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">However, on April 19, 2024, Simon Ekpa, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icirnigeria.org\/ekpa-declares-self-biafra-prime-minister-in-exile-names-advisory-council\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">self-declared<\/a> prime minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), on his X (formerly Twitter) account,<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/simon_ekpa\"> @simon_ekpa<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/simon_ekpa\/status\/1781297572721631633?s=08\"> posted<\/a> a video claiming that Israel had struck Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">His caption reads: &#8220;BREAKING: Israel hitting Iran, but the propaganda carriers will be posting how Iran intercepted it.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The post has garnered 2,300 reposts, 95 quotes, 3,000 likes, 122 bookmarks, over 129,000 views, and 428 comments. Among the comments, there were expressions of support for Israel, such as &#8220;More draconic firepower to Israel&#8221; and &#8220;I stand with Israel for life.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">However, other comments suggested that the video was old and the information was false, with statements like &#8220;This is an old and fake video!&#8221; and &#8220;This seems edited. How could people still be standing there? It&#8217;s not possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to the video&#8217;s virality and suspicion surrounding it, DUBAWA decided to conduct a fact check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Verification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Keyframes from the video shared by Simon Ekpa were analysed using InVid, Google Reverse Image Search, and Yandex. We found that the 1-minute and 2-second video was curated from different sources. A part of the video was from a massive<a href=\"https:\/\/tsn.ua\/ru\/svit\/sotni-domov-sgoreli-v-masshtabnom-pozhare-v-chiliyskom-gorode-1950607.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> fire<\/a> in Chile in 2022<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The video metadata showed that the visuals were created on April 19, but the audio was created in 1904 and modified to fit the misleading video on April 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">DUBAWA found the originator of the video on TikTok,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@myus.hamed5\/video\/7363657405768535329\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> @myus.hamed5<\/a>, a video editor and author of several misleading videos. He has 544.2k followers and 5 million likes. His TikTok page contains videos of explosions and disasters with misleading claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">DUBAWA found that part of the video shared depicts Israel\u2019s attack on Iran, and the audio was also used by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@myus.hamed5\/video\/7363657405768535329\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> @myus.hamed5<\/a> in other videos on his page, such as in the video where he<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@myus.hamed5\/video\/7365105712449457440\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> claims<\/a> Russia attacked the Ukraine City of Kharkiv on May 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Some of the misleading videos DUBAWA also found on his TikTok page claim that America and Russia<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@myus.hamed5\/video\/7365105712449457440\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> were<\/a> at war and a strong tornado recently<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@myus.hamed5\/video\/7363764162381581601\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> stormed<\/a> Saudi Arabia,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@myus.hamed5\/video\/7363346847856938272\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Oklahoma<\/a>, and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@myus.hamed5\/video\/7363657405768535329\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Nebraska<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Using keywords on Google search, DUBAWA did not find any authenticated report or video to confirm the video shared by Simon Ekpa that Israel did strike Iran after the April 13 multiple missile launch from Iran to Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">DUBAWA found an April 20 BBC report<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-middle-east-68853402\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> showing<\/a> that Israel did not confirm any attack on Iran, but US officials claimed that the country hit Iran with a missile. The BBC report further revealed that \u201cSome Iranian officials and media have confirmed there was an attempted strike but are downplaying the significance of it.
