A Facebook page, Jobs and Travels, posted<\/a> a link claiming the existence of a Federal Government empowerment grant of N250,000 for all Nigerians on May 5, 2024. Over 5,000 accounts have reacted to the post, garnering over 1,200 comments and 68 reshares as of May 20, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The link attached did not depict a state-owned initiative despite an image of the former finance minister, Zainab Ahmed, connected with the words \u201cFederal government empowerment free N70,000.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most comments indicated people expressing their interests, raising suspicions that prompted DUBAWA to verify the information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We clicked on the link<\/a> and found no content that showed registration or eligibility for a Federal government grant. Instead, the TGuideWeb<\/a> website showed how Nigerians can obtain a visa sponsorship opportunity in the United States (USA). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We tried to find the website\u2019s owner using Scamadviser<\/a>, but it was futile. Though the website has a good rating of 96\/100, it has few visitors. Lastly, it indicated that several spammers and scammers use the same registrar. DUBAWA has also previously done fact-checks similar to the claim in question, such as here<\/a> and here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
