The post was shared on Friday, July 19, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The post reads, \u201cAre you using Opay? OPAY is giving out *6,000 naira* to all users to celebrate *6 years Anniversary*. Check on the link below to see if you are among the lucky winners now. _*Check Now*_: 0payme.shtnarz.com\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This post has also been shared on various WhatsApp groups, as evident in the screenshot below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having suspected such links to be fraudulent, DUBAWA decided to verify its integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA first clicked on the link<\/a> shared by the user on Facebook. The link requested us to enter our Opay account number in a given space. After entering a random number, we received a congratulatory message claiming we had been selected as beneficiaries and were instructed to share the message with groups on WhatsApp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, we searched for credible media reports and checked OPay\u2019s official X<\/a> handle regarding the claim. However, the financial and technological bank provided no information about the alleged celebration by OPay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, when DUBAWA contacted OPay via its X handle for confirmation, the bank’s spokesperson debunked the claim as false.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
