A social media blog named ‘Shine Liberia’ claimed<\/a> that the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company’s management, led by Amos Tweh, purchased a 21-seater bus for $165,000. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The blog<\/a> stated that the bus is intended for LPRC Oilers, the company\u2019s football team. Shine Liberia alleged, \u201cAmos Tweh reportedly brags about spending 165k USD of the Liberian people\u2019s money to purchase this bus for LPRC Oilers FC.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accusation on social media attracted numerous comments, with some users believing the post. For instance, Junior B. Zuu wrote<\/a>, \u201cMD and his team did not do well at all.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, Mark Kannah<\/a> remarked, \u201cCorruption now runs in the veins of almost every normal government official in Liberia,\u201d adding, \u201cLord, please have mercy and save Liberia.\u201d The post received about<\/a> 185 comments, two shares, and many more Facebook emoji reactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given the seriousness of the claim and its potential impact, DUBAWA decided to fact-check and clarify the truth behind the post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA contacted Shine Liberia to authenticate its claim. However, the researcher did not get a response. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The researcher then contacted the Chairman of the Oilers Sports Association, Momolu Dukuly (no relation to the writer), to ask how much it cost the Association to buy the bus. Mr Dukuly shared a receipt showing the cost of the bus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that the bus was not acquired by LPRC management but by the Oilers Sports Association, with funds received from the sale of a player to a European club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
