On Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, President Bola Tinubu dismissed five government ministers<\/a> from his cabinet, reassigned ten, and appointed seven new ministers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the aftermath of the recent ministerial changes, a Facebook<\/a> user, Ikechukwu Anaba<\/a>, claimed via the Meta parent application that the former Minister of Tourism, Femi Fani-Kayode, and former presidential aide Reno Omokri had been appointed as Minister of Finance and Central Bank Governor, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The post\u2019s caption reads, \u201cBREAKING: Tinubu appoints FFK and Reno Omokri Minister of Finance and CBN Governor, respectively.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shared post has generated about nine likes and six comments as of Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the post\u2019s potential to spread disinformation, DUBAWA verified its authenticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA reviewed the report<\/a> by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, which lists the 48 ministries and their ministers. But Mr Fani-Kayode\u2019s name was not on the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Channels<\/a> Television reported that the newly appointed ministers are Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu as Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Maigari Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment, Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Idi Maiha as Minister of Livestock Development Ministry, Yusuf Ata as Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development, and Suwaiba Ahmad as Minister of State, Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Punch<\/a> also reported a similar development and added that the appointment is part of the much-anticipated cabinet reshuffle of Tinubu’s administration, which has been in office for over a year.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, none of the details in the report inform the former government officials received any of the top government positions mentioned by the claimant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Federal Ministry of Finance<\/a> mentions that the current Finance Minister is Wale Edun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
