President Joseph Boakai suspended<\/a> Davidetta Brown Lansanah, Chairperson of the National Elections Commission indefinitely on Jan 15, 2025, for action he claimed violated the elections law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President’s decision followed Madam Brown Lansanah’s dismissal<\/a> of 25 employees without the knowledge or approval of the NEC Board of Commissioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, an online blog, \u201cShine Liberia,<\/a>\u201d posted a report claiming that the President had reinstated the NEC Boss after a high-profile meeting with executive members of the ruling Unity Party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA first contacted the online blog to provide evidence to back such a claim, but they refused to respond and deleted the post instead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA also contacted the Communications Director at the National Elections Commission, Prince Dumber<\/a> who described the claim as unfounded, adding\u201cI have no knowledge about the reinstatement of Madam Brown Lansanah, as we speak since the suspension of her, Co-Chair, Cllr. Teplah<\/a> Reeves has been acting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, the Liberian Senate sent a communication addressed<\/a> to the Cllr. Teplah Reeves, acting chairperson of the National Elections Commission notified the commission of a vacant seat at the 55th legislature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, on Sunday, Feb 2, 2025, a group of aggrieved workers at the National Election Commission threatened<\/a> to disrupt the Nimba County By-election if President Boakai reinstates Madam Davidetta Brown Lansanah. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
