Full Text<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State, has gained massive followership following his participation in the 2023 general election under the Labour Party. This followership is dominated by Nigerian youths and urban dwellers, who branded themselves as “Obidients.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, Wale Adedayo (@Mario9ja) on X posted<\/a> the image of a barrack gate with the inscription \u201cPeter Obi Okwute Barracks,\u201d suggesting a Batrack was named after Peter Obi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The post captioned “Case settled\u201d post has gone viral, garnering 66,800 views, 838 likes, 167 retweets, and 119 comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The post was met with conflicting comments. Balogun Ibrahim (@Arsenalxxl) disagreed with the post and wrote, \u201cMinister of bad news and console centre, this is not true.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another user, Melinda Tekenah (@melindaTekenah223), was ecstatic about it and wrote, \u201cWow, this is a good thing. He is not president, but he is considered for things like this. Kudos.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conflicting comments, the post\u2019s virality, and the personality involved made DUBAWA investigate this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA conducted a keyword search using the name at the gate and found no results. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We then used Google Lens on the image and found news reports showing the original image and the gate’s name. The gate’s actual name is  “Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA then subjected the actual name on the gate to a keyword search and saw different reports. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to The Nation<\/a>, President Bola Tinubu spoke during the commissioning of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks and other newly constructed facilities under the Nigerian Army Special Projects in Abuja. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also saw similar reports in The Sun<\/a> and The Guardian<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conclusion <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
