As part of its annual corruption ranking of how corrupt countries are perceived to be, Transparency International published<\/a> its 2024 Corruption Perception Index.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CPI ranks 180 countries and territories worldwide by their perceived levels of public sector corruption. The results are given on a scale of 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liberia scored  27 points, ranking 135 among 180 nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to the publication, Mohammed Ali, the head of the Liberia Water Sewer Corporation, said<\/a> that after seven years, Liberia did not climb by 0.1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is quoted as saying, \u201cAfter seven years, we did not even climb by even 0.1.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He made the claim while appearing as a guest on a local radio show<\/a>. He can be heard at the<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2019, Liberia dropped by 4 points, gaining 28<\/a> points. In 2020, the country remained at 28<\/a> points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fast-forward to 2021, Liberia climbed by 1 point, gaining 29<\/a> points. In 2022, Liberia dropped by 3 points, gaining 26<\/a> points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
