For years, there has been a debate about who is superior<\/a> between the two Afrobeat musicians, David Adeleke, known as Davido, and his counterpart, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While both artists continue to pit themselves against each other, their supporters have only continued to trigger the duo’s antagonism, from comparing music streams, awards, endorsement deals, fame, and family and personal lifestyles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Against this backdrop, a Facebook user, FC Chairman<\/a>, shared a video of Davido purportedly expressing regret for not considering Wizkid\u2019s advice before the release of his latest album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The claimant captioned the video, \u201cDavido declared Wizkid the biggest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the nine-second footage, Davido could be heard saying, \u201cI respect Wizkid so much because he is the biggest, but I didn’t take advice from Wizkid before dropping that trash album, and I’m regretting my life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When DUBAWA checked the video on Sunday, May 4, 2025, we noticed an engagement statistics of about 46,000 likes, 2,800 comments, and 848 reposts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The same post appeared here<\/a> and here<\/a> on Facebook. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the number of engagements the post had accumulated and the strained relationship between the two artists, DUBAWA decided to verify the claim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We first observed that the voice texture sounded weird and different from the musician\u2019s usual voice. DUBAWA took screen grabs from the video and subjected them to a Google Reverse Image Search. The result linked us with similar videos shared on Instagram in November 2024, as seen here<\/a>, here<\/a>, and here<\/a>. Similar versions were shared on YouTube<\/a>, Facebook,<\/a> and X<\/a> within the same time frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We carefully examined the original version<\/a> of the video and discovered that Davido was talking about growing old and comparing his present abilities with his formative years in music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI finally agree I’m getting old. Normally, when we land for a show, no matter the time, we are going out. These days, I just want to sleep,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, we checked Davido\u2019s official Facebook<\/a> page to see whether he made a recent post about the video used by the claimant, but found none. We did the same check on Wizkid\u2019s official Facebook<\/a> page and found nothing to support the claim. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, we subjected<\/a> the video to Deepware.ai<\/a>, a verification tool that detects deepfake videos. It shows a likelihood of the clip being digitally distorted to paint a different narrative from the original version. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
