In 2023, the National Centre for Health Statistics<\/a> report showed that the birth rate in the United States dropped to 3.6 million babies, 73,000 fewer than in 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New York Times <\/a>recently reported that the White House was considering initiating a $5,000 baby bonus to increase the U.S. birth rate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The story appeared on Fox 59<\/a>, THE HILL<\/a>, CNN<\/a>, and The U.S. Sun<\/a>, all reporting that Trump\u2019s administration was considering giving mothers in the U.S. a $5,000 baby bonus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of May 6, 2025, Spark Salone<\/a> reported on Facebook that Donald Trump is now giving out a $5,000 baby bonus to expectant mothers in the U.S.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The claim was also found here<\/a>, here<\/a>, and here<\/a>, spreading what appears to be misinformation among social media users. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA decided to fact-check the claim due to its growing impact on social media users. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Using Google keyword search, DUBAWA found that Donald Trump has not begun giving expectant mothers a $5,000 baby bonus, according to CNN<\/a> and the New York Times reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA\u2019s Google search also revealed that Spark Salone distorted the facts, with the caption: \u201cDonald Trump is now giving out $5k Pregnancy Bonus to expectant mothers. He said he wants more Babies in America. If you give birth to twins, you will receive $5,000.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After checking on Forbes<\/a>, AOL<\/a>, and other credible media agencies, DUBAWA found that Donald Trump only said the proposal \u201csounds like a good idea\u201d when asked about it at the White House. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On whether the White House has considered the policy, Forbes reported as follows;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes. Trump has considered sending American taxpaying households up to $5,000 each using savings made by the Department of Government Efficiency, which has made sweeping, controversial cuts to the federal government\u2019s funding and workforce. However, the concept, which could create inflation if it came into fruition, has not been fleshed out since it was first floated in February. Tesla chief and DOGE leader Elon Musk has said, \u201cWe need to balance the budget as first priority,\u201d referring to the federal deficit, which reached $1.8 trillion last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
