A Facebook post by Hawa Dauda<\/a> recently went viral. The post claimed that the Sierra Leone Female National Football Team was stuck in Guinea due to financial difficulties. The team didn\u2019t have enough funds and was facing visa problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The post quickly caught the attention of many football fans in Sierra Leone. Some expressed frustration and disappointment, calling for answers from the Football Association.  Others shared the post without confirming the veracity, causing more panic and confusion online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To find out the truth behind this claim, DUBAWA contacted Jonathan Turner, a member of the SLFA Media Team. Mr Turner confirmed that the information in the post was not accurate. He said the team was not stranded and Hawa Dauda’s post was misleading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Turner explained that the team had a slight delay in Guinea, but it had nothing to do with a lack of funds. He added that the delay resulted from the host country, Mauritania’s strict visa policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further noted that the SLFA is responsible and has always ensured that the male and female national teams are well cared for. He described the post as false and harmful, mainly when people spread such news without confirming with the authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA also researched and found out that the Sierra Leone female National Team was not the only one delayed in entering the host country because of their visa policy. The Liberia Female National Team<\/a> was also delayed because of the same issue. This shows that<\/a> the Sierra Leone Female National and Liberia Female Teams were not the only ones delayed in entering the host country for the competition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
