It plays in the Leone Rock Premier League.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">East End Lions, nicknamed the \u201cKillers,\u201d is based in Sierra Leone\u2019s capital, Freetown.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In February 2024, East End Lions executives began renovating the popular Trade Centre Playing Field. The field, covered in dust and pebbles, was leased by the club from the Government Technical Institute, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/sierraloaded.sl\/sport\/east-end-lions-nears-completion-stadium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sierra Loaded<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The club converted the dusty pitch into artificial turf to improve players&#8217; playing conditions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, a Facebook user, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1DcVcf2S5m\/?mibextid=wwXIfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Malik Malik Bah<\/a>, posted photos claiming President Julius Maada Bio\u2019s administration renovated the East End Lions\u2019 pitch.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Part of the claim reads, \u201cTake a look at the newly rebranded Trade Centre Field, which has been transformed to an ultramodern level under the leadership of President Bio.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The claim was further translated from Krio as: \u201cThis place used to be a dusty pitch. And it has been the East End Lions\u2019 home stadium for years. Finally, the Bio\u2019s administration has rebranded it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The claim sparked reactions among social media users. Still, there was no evidence linking the involvement of President Bio\u2019s administration to the renovation of the East End Lions\u2019 pitch.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of February 2024, <a href=\"https:\/\/ayvnews.com\/upgraded-with-state-of-the-art-facilities-e-e-lions-pitch-set-to-serve-east-end-community-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">African Young Voices<\/a> reported that the Chairperson of East End Lions, Anthony Navo Jr., had relayed that his executive was renovating the Trade Centre Field to ultra-modern artificial turf for the club. When we reviewed this News piece, no evidence validated Malik Malik Bah\u2019s claim.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We conducted further searches on other credible news outlets, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/a-zsl.com\/east-end-lions-f-c-turns-sod-for-construction-of-70000-seater-stadium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A-Z Media<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/nightwatchnewspaper.com\/east-end-lions-fcs-trade-center-field-artificial-turf-project-nears-completion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Night Watch<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politicosl.com\/articles\/state-art-facilities-ee-lions-pitch-serve-east-and-beyond\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico SL<\/a>, which had reported on the upgrade but did not link it to the government.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our search also found that East End Lions is a private club not supported or controlled by the government of Sierra Leone.
