Source: Face Zone Africa X account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Besides attracting tens of thousands of reactions on social media, these posts have sparked debate in Liberia, especially as the company remains embroiled in a controversy regarding the terms of its current Mineral Development Agreement (MDA) with the government, which<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liberianobserver.com\/opinion\/commentaries\/arcelormittal-20-years-of-operation-in-liberia\/article_7cbefff1-31a8-4c33-87e1-c24bc3dd49b4.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> is set to expire in 2030<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Given the claim\u2019s importance and the potential to mislead, DUBAWA decided to investigate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Verification<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following extensive Google searches and shortlisting of iron ore concentrator plants in Africa based on search keywords including \u201ciron ore concentrators in Africa\u201d and \u201cAfrica iron ore concentrator plants,\u201d we found different concentrator plants linked to prominent mines such as the Sishen iron ore mine and Kolomela iron ore mine both in South Africa, and the Tonkolili iron ore mine in Sierra Leone.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the Sishen mine, an iron ore concentrator plant already exists with a capacity of over 30 million tonnes per annum, while the Kolomela iron ore concentration plant has a capacity of about 13 million tonnes per annum according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.angloamerican.com\/~\/media\/Files\/A\/Anglo-American-Group\/PLC\/media\/minas-rio\/iron-ore-and-manganese.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">records<\/a>.
