class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recently, there have been <a href=\"https:\/\/dailypost.ng\/2025\/07\/08\/ghanaians-protest-installation-of-igbo-leader-as-king-in-accra\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">speculations<\/a> about installing an Igbo traditional ruler, Eze Chukwudi, over the Igbo residents in Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Against this backdrop, an X user, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AsakyGRN\/status\/1942479626921476228?t=iNSOexu6FstQaqmpqH0n4w&amp;s=19\">@AsakyGRN<\/a>, shared a 47-second <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AsakyGRN\/status\/1942479626921476228?t=iNSOexu6FstQaqmpqH0n4w&amp;s=19\">video<\/a> on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, and claimed Ghanaians were protesting the installation of an Igbo King in their country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the video, a mob tries to force its way into a compound, supposedly owned by the Igbo community, but is barricaded by the police from gaining entrance.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Along with the clip, the X user wrote, \u201cGhanaian youths protest against Igbo dominance after the Igbos installed an Igbo king in Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of Saturday, June 12, 2025, the video had amassed over 1.8 million views, 10,000 likes, 1,040 reposts, 944 bookmarks, and 412 quotes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While many users believed the video\u2019s authenticity, reinforcing ethnic stereotypes, a few doubted it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhy do these people like to cause trouble anywhere they go in the world?\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Dele93748586\/status\/1942508974340792790?t=-0TKvmsOh4TkvCJxn0_7dg&amp;s=19\">@Dele93748586<\/a> questioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another comment by <a investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Verification<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DUBAWA subjected parts of the video clip to Google Reverse Image Search, and it linked us to a similar and lengthy version on Facebook.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/v\/191iqTKE2B\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a> video, shared on May 30, 2025, by Onua 95.1FM, a radio station based in Accra, was captioned, \u201cWontumi Arrest: Tensions rise as NPP supporters push back against police barrier.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A further investigation linked us with an Instagram page, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DKSWXGGvsJk\/?igsh=aTczc2J6NmNqdGx0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tv3_ghana<\/a>, which had also shared the same video and captioned it \u201cNPP supporters, Wotunmi detention.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Similarly, the same video was shared on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/Wkrb5QokIJM?si=d01WkPEgRTD3l4ZK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a> by 3FM 92.7 between the 58:00 and 60:00 minutes of the clip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We conducted an extensive keyword search on Wotunmi\u2019s arrest and the New Patriotic Party (NPP)\u2019s protest in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myjoyonline.com\/wontumis-arrest-npp-supporters-block-police-riot-vehicle-with-truck-car-tyres-at-eoco\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> published on May 30, 2025, some supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) protested the unlawful and continued detention of Ashanti\u2019s regional chairman, Bernard Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, at the Head office of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moreover, other outlets published similar stories <a
