The recent scandal spike has put the Nigerian aviation sector in the spotlight, from Adams Oshiomole\u2019s disruption<\/a> of Air Peace operations to the ValueJet<\/a> incident with Wasiu Ayinde (KWAM 1) and now the Comfort Emmanson and Ibom Air case<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Aug. 11, 2025, a Facebook user, The Republican News, shared a six-minute video<\/a> showing commotion on an Ibom Air-branded aeroplane. In the caption, the page claimed that this incident happened after the KWAM 1 and Comfort\u2019s incident (KWAM 2), hence the \u201cKWAM 3\u201d tag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of Aug. 13, 2025, the video had gained over 10,000 views, 36 reactions, and 22 comments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Folake Flakkyfaj posted the video on Facebook on Aug. 11, 2025. The post gained<\/a> over 1,600 reactions, 494 comments, and 519 reshares. The video also appeared on an Instagram blog<\/a>, gaining reactions and comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other Facebook users shared the KWAM 3 video here<\/a>, here<\/a>, here<\/a>, and here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another Facebook page, Yoruba Space TV 2, shared a two-minute video<\/a> claiming it was a separate incident involving a man disrupting Ibom Air operations. The user claimed this was the fourth incident in a row and tagged it \u201cKWAM 4.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cKWAM 4\u201d video has gained over 855,000 views, 6,700 reactions, and 1,600 comments since it was posted on Aug. 11, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The videos\u2019 virality and implications for Ibom Air\u2019s reputation prompted DUBAWA to fact-check them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA used Google Lens to conduct a Reverse Image Search on a keyframe from the KWAM 3 video. We found a report by TheCable<\/a> on Jan. 8, 2025, which revealed that a passenger refused to fly without her checked-in luggage at departure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite intervention by airline staff and the pilot, the passenger blocked the aisle at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, while demanding that her luggage be loaded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The disruption led to the flight\u2019s cancellation, affecting 89 other passengers. Due to the damages incurred by the airline, Michael Achimugu, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authorities\u2019 (NCAA) public affairs and consumer protection director, revealed<\/a> that the disruptive passenger would face prosecution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also conducted a Reverse Image Search on the \u201cKWAM 4\u201d incident involving Ibom Air. DUBAWA discovered that GoldMyneTV, a YouTube channel, uploaded<\/a> a more extended video version two years ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further search revealed that the middle-aged man in the video was Obiajulu Uja, who disrupted<\/a> the Abuja-to-Lagos flight on March 31, 2023. In the video, he was urging other passengers to prevent the swearing-in of the 2023 presidential election winner,  Bola Tinubu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conclusion<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
