Mohammed Ali, the managing director of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation, appeared on an afternoon political show<\/a> in July 2025 as a panellist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the show, Ali said that good governance, accountability, and the fight against corruption have progressed more under President Joseph Boakai’s administration than in previous administrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He claimed, \u201cFor the first time, LACC\u2019s budget has increased by more than $1 million.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LACC<\/a> is the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission, which was established by an act of legislation in 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ali can be heard making the claim in 2:05:05 to 2:05:25 of the conversation.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA analysed the budgets of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) from fiscal year July 1, 2008, to June 30, 2009, up to 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first year, the LACC was incorporated into the national budget from July 1, 2008, to June 30, 2009. In the budget year, $300,000 was budgeted for the LACC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From July 1, 2009, to June 30, 2010, the LACC received $1,363,424 of the $1,400,000 budgeted for that year, an increase of over $1,063,424 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From fiscal years 2011\/2012 to 2017\/2018, the LACC\u2019s budgets were between $1,697,974 to $2,202,108.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 2018\/2019 to 2022, the LACC\u2019s budgets sat between $2,016,573 to $2,122,445.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the 2023 fiscal year, the LACC received $1,840,300, while $2,966,811 was budgeted for 2024. This shows a difference of $1,126,511.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
