The World Giving Report, formerly the World Giving Index, is a global initiative by Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). It conducts surveys in countries to measure and collect data on how generously they donate, volunteer, and help. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CAF measures these countries based on key elements: direct giving, charitable donations, religious giving, and volunteerism. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the index is calculated by examining the three key pillars: Helping Strangers, Donating, and Volunteering Time. Percentages scored across these key areas are used to determine the 10 most generous countries in the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the Director of Communications of State House, Myk Berewa<\/a>, claimed that Kenya, Nigeria, Myanmar, and Sierra Leone were ranked as the top five most generous countries in 2023 on the World Giving Index 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The claim reads in full: \u201cThe World Giving Index 2023 listed Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Myanmar, and Sierra Leone as the top five most generous countries, all of which are majority non-white. This shows that empathy is shaped by culture, not race.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of September 1, 2025, when the claim was made, it had already gained 117 likes and 25 comments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
