The attacks have claimed tons of lives and displaced thousands.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this back story, an X user, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/k3lv1nb0b0\/status\/1977315118770966661?s=46\">@K3lulnBobo<\/a>, shared a clip of armed men roaming an uninhabited area with armoured cars and weapons, and claimed they are Boko Haram terrorists who have captured a Nigerian military barracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Attached to the one-minute, 27-second footage is the caption, \u201cBoko Haram taking over many Nigerian military barracks and rejoicing for their victory.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, the post has attracted over 1 million views, 4,050 likes, 2,360 reposts, 1,330 bookmarks, and 650 quotes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A review of the post&#8217;s comments reveals a mix of belief and doubt among users who engaged with the post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Believing its authenticity, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Fortis1o\/status\/1977653682981552520?t=RhPp5fLgyXIaqKhqpnZamQ&amp;s=19\">@Fortis1o<\/a> wrote, \u201cThe Nigerian military simply hands over these things to Boko Haram and the Nigerian government turns around and increases taxes on Nigerians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the contrary, another user <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mautiin01\/status\/1977690080023056742?s=46\">@Mautiin01<\/a> wrote, \u201cThis is not Nigeria but Sudan. You call yourself good news, but you are bent on spreading lies and misinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is not Nigeria,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Nainna_J\/status\/1977726566487543911?t=6h4vfrlT-HebrlxANpTiSQ&amp;s=19\">@Nainna_j<\/a> asserted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because of the claim\u2019s sensitivity and the conflicting comments it generated, DUBAWA decided to verify it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Verification<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DUBAWA conducted a manual analysis of the video. We noticed that the truck conveying the terrorists has an Arabic inscription and Sudanese flags visible on it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We further contacted Yakubu Mohammed, a conflict reporter with <a href=\"https:\/\/premiumtimesng.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Premium Times<\/a>. He noted that \u201cjihadists mostly use the inscriptions, and they are likely the Rapid Support Forces [RSF] in that country.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using this information, we examined the uniforms of the armed men in the video and compared them with the RSF&#8217;s military uniforms.
