For months, the alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria has sparked intense debate and controversy on social media. While some groups are advocating<\/a> for foreign intervention, others have raised concerns<\/a> about potential foreign domination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As concerns intensify, social media users have shared unrelated events and visuals to distort the narrative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An X user, @Ana_herleemerh<\/a>, on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, shared a video<\/a> with the claim that it shows a man who confessed to attempting to bomb a church. The user claimed the plane was to frame the Muslims for carrying out the act. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA Christian named Nathaniel Samuel from Kaduna confessed to planning to bomb a church in Kaduna state, Nigeria,\u201d the X user wrote. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe plan was to frame Muslims for committing the crime, so that innocent Muslims could be targeted and killed as usual,\u201d X user further wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A similar video was shared by other users on X as seen here<\/a> and here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025, the video has garnered over 170,000 views, 5,980 likes, 2,875 reposts, 293 quotations, and 855 bookmarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The comment section was filled with both support and doubt from X users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou are doing well, keep exposing yourself,\u201d @Honormeh_aganga<\/a> applauded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another user, @far333daa, wrote,<\/a> \u201cMuslim people in power think we are stupid, all of a sudden Christian bombers and kidnappers. Trump is coming.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe world started calling out Islamic terrorism in Nigeria, and a few days later, Tinubu’s govt conveniently caught a ‘reverend father’ of an unknown church who distributes guns all over Africa,\u201d @agodliveshere<\/a>\u2019s comment read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering the widespread discussion and disinformation surrounding the alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria, DUBAWA decided to verify the video’s authenticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA performed a Google Reverse Image Search of keyframes from the video clip and found a similar video shared on Facebook<\/a> in February 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Facebook<\/a> post, uploaded by Kennis 104.1FM, revealed that on Sunday, Feb 1, 2020, a 30-year-old Nathaniel Samuel was caught with explosives at the Sabon Tasha branch of Living Faith Church, popularly known as Winner Chapel. Nathaniel told the media that contrary to the speculation that he is a Muslim and Muhammed Nasiru Sani by name, he is a Christian. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cContrary to speculations on social media, he is indeed a Christian and that his name is Nathaniel and not Mohammed Nasiru Sani as is being speculated online,\u201d part of the post\u2019s caption reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Facebook handle further revealed that Nathaniel was paraded before the media at the Kaduna State Police Command on Feb. 3, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also saw similar videos uploaded on X in 2020, as seen here<\/a> and here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA further carried out a keyword search on the suicide bomb attempt on a church in Kaduna State. On Feb 2, 2020, Punch<\/a> reported the arrest of a suspected suicide-bomber, identified as Nathaniel Samuel. He attempted to bomb a Living Faith Church, also known as Winners\u2019 Chapel, in Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Punch\u2019s report revealed that Nathaniel\u2019s movement was monitored by the church\u2019s Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) before he was accosted by security personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TheCable<\/a>, Nigerian Tribune<\/a>, and The Guardian <\/a>also reported the suicide bomb attempt at a church in Kaduna State in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
