In recent weeks, there have been controversies<\/a> about the existence of Christian genocides in Nigeria. While several Nigerians have lamented<\/a> many instances of Christian faithfuls getting killed by Islamic extremists based on their faith, others have argued<\/a> that Christians are not the only victims of terrorism, as Muslim faithfuls have also died as a result of Islamic terrorist attacks.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Against this background, an X user, @Jiddattou<\/a>, shared an image of an arrested kidnapper in possession of a loaded gun. Jiddattou claimed the kidnapper is a Christian terrorist linked with multiple killings in Jema Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMeet Blessed Paul, Kaduna Kidnapper and Gun Runner. A notorious Christian Terrorist linked to multiple kidnappings in Jema\u2019s LGA,\u201d the post\u2019s caption reads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We found that similar posts were shared by Facebook<\/a> and Instagram<\/a> users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025, the post has garnered over 619,000 views, 2,300 comments,  1,500 retweets, 2,600 likes, and 178 bookmarks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The post generated controversial comments from other X users who came across the post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPoint of correction, no name like Blessing Paul,\u201d @OluwafemiJac13<\/a> opposed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t change facts. They are just stubborn. Continue deceiving yourself,\u201d AJ_013<\/a> countered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAny thief they catch now is a terrorist, just so the US will change their stand, it won\u2019t work,\u201d DogaraGK<\/a> stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the sensitive nature of the claim amidst the “Christian genocide\u201d conversation, DUBAWA decided to verify the image shared by the claimant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA submitted the image to Google Reverse Image Search, which linked us to a Facebook<\/a> post shared by the Nigerian army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nigerian army on Mar. 11, 2025, shared a post that had several pictures of apprehended kidnappers, including the image shared by the claimant. The post detailed how the troops of Operation Safe Haven rescued seven kidnapped victims in Riyom Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The operation was carried out based on intelligence given to the troops that some kidnappers were keeping some victims who were abducted along the Jos-Ganawuri road on March 7, 2025. The group searched the whole area and rescued seven victims.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Punch<\/a> newspaper also reported a similar development back in March. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA noticed that the claimant referenced the Guardian article in a follow-up tweet<\/a> and tried to link the image she shared to the article’s content. In the follow-up post, the X user insisted that a notorious gun runner and suspected kidnapper, Blessed Paul, who was arrested by the troops of Open Save Haven, in Garaje community, Jema Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State, is the one in the images. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We checked the Guardian article and noticed that Blessed\u2019s photograph is not included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conclusion<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
