On Nov. 18, 2025, armed men attacked<\/a> the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun branch, in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. The attack took place during an evening service, and portions of the incident were captured on a live stream<\/a> of the church. Community sources confirmed that three worshippers were killed, while several others, including the pastor, were abducted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kwara State Police Command confirmed that suspected bandits<\/a> killed at least two people and injured one during attacks in Eruku, a boundary town in the Ekiti Local Government Area. Reports from the community indicate that the abductors are demanding \u20a6100 million as ransom<\/a> for each of the 38 victims believed to be held. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amid this confusion, a Facebook user, Tope Fasua, posted a video<\/a> (archived here<\/a>) on Nov.  20, 2025, claiming that vigilantes had arrested the perpetrators. By Nov. 21, 2025, the post had amassed over 347 shares, 330 comments, more than 600 likes, and over 21,000 views. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reactions to this post were mixed. Some users believed the claim, with one user writing, \u201cThat is why I love the Yorubas, we don\u2019t harbour terrorists\u2026 Yoruba land is not a fertile land for criminals.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another user, Sam Ladipo, asked, \u201cWhat of those kidnapped? Were they rescued?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, others immediately called out the post as misleading. Auser, James Oshiorenua King, wrote, \u201cTHIS IS AN OLD VIDEO. There is nothing that all these shameless APC syphocants will not bring up to conceal their incompetence. APC, propaganda, and lies are siamese conjoined triplets.\u201d DUBAWA decided to fact-check the claim due to its sensitivity and potential to mislead the public about the actual state of events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA conducted a keyword search to determine whether the police or the Kwara State Government had issued any updates on arrests related to the Eruku church attack. We found no such information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While President Bola Tinubu confirmed<\/a> the release of the victims, he did not comment on whether any of the perpetrators had been arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We extracted screenshots from the circulating video and subjected them to keyframe analysis. DUBAWA\u2019s investigation found that the video, which was shared online in September 2025, is unrelated to the Eruku church attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also found a report that the police in Kwara described a viral video<\/a> suggesting the command had arrested the suspects as \u201ccompletely false.\u201d The police added that joint operations were ongoing to track down the attackers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
