The government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), presented the 2026 draft national budget, totalling approximately $1.2 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to the country\u2019s budget envelope, the political leader of the Movement for Progressive Change (MPC) stated that the government is funding institutions that don\u2019t meaningfully contribute to increasing the country\u2019s income or economic value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simeon Freeman<\/a> named more than 30 institutions in the budget, which he claims are a waste of taxpayers\u2019 money. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among those institutions is the Governance Commission, which Mr Freeman says, \u201cTtakes more than $3 million from the draft 2026 national budget.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former presidential candidate can be heard from 8:50 to 8:58 in a live press<\/a> engagement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA checked the official website of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) to review the 2026 draft national budget<\/a> of the Governance Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The commission is projected to receive about $2,311,324 in next year\u2019s budget, contrary to Freeman\u2019s claims that it will take more than $3 million from the same budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
