Recently, a member of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) was reportedly apprehended<\/a> by the Nigerian Police Force in Kwara State. His arrest followed an allegation that he had a rifle issued by the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) to tackle insecurity in the state.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, Nigerians have continued to challenge<\/a> the Office of the National Security Adviser, spearheaded by Nuhu Ribadu, over arming the cattle breeders group with guns and ammunition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amidst these developments, an X user, @Airborne_X1<\/a>, shared a video showing Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima publicly handing a wad of cash to an individual, and claimed that the presidency was having a meeting with a member of MACBAN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBREAKING: This is the current president and vice president of Nigeria, with a member of Miyetti Allah seated in the middle,\u201d The X user wrote alongside the video clip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, the post has garnered 49,300 views, 91 comments, 887 retweets, 1000 likes, and 216 bookmarks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While other X users thought the video was genuine, some pointed out that it was not a recent affair. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis country cannot be better with this level of incompetence,\u201d @GeorgeloveGod<\/a> commented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGod will punish them all, now and forever,\u201d @officialdoski38<\/a> cussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is pure wickedness for you to lie and mislead the public,\u201d @Akinboy<\/a> cautioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis was during the campaign, and stop information that is not true,\u201d @de generaknoni pointed out<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the differing opinions about when the incident in the video clip occurred, DUBAWA decided to verify the post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification<\/strong>   <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We took a keyframe of the video clip and subjected it to Google Reverse Image Search. It linked us to a similar video clip shared<\/a> by Sahara Reporters on YouTube on Dec. 21, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the video, both President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima appear to be dialoguing with an unnamed individual before reassuringly handing him some money. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sahara Reporters tagged the clip as \u201cvote buying\u201d, where the presidency was \u201ccaught on tape giving cash during a presidential campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although DUBAWA did not locate any other media outlet that reported the incident with a similar context, a report from Leadership newspaper, dated Dec. 21, 2022, quoted the All Progressives Congress (APC) party, which explained that the president\u2019s gesture was not a bribe but rather charity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Punch newspaper also reported <\/a>a similar explanation provided by the ruling party regarding the president\u2019s conduct in the viral video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, none of the news outlets mentioned that the recipient of the money in the video is associated with the Miyetti Allah group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
