Following the 2026 Eid al-Fitr, @kenkenlewu<\/a>, an X user, shared an image depicting worshippers blocking traffic. She claims<\/a> (archived here<\/a>) the people in the photo were Muslims who chose to pray on an Abuja highway, thereby trampling on other people\u2019s rights while freely exercising theirs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is Abuja highway,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI thought you said Nigeria is not an Islamic country, right? That’s it. If Muslim is pe@cefull as you claim. Why would they block a federal road where other religions pass ?? Are they the only religion in Nigeria?? Why are they always l00king for Tr00uble?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

@kenkenlewu\u2019s claim has drawn backlash, especially from other users who now accuse her of trying to spark a religious controversy to secure payment from X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For instance, @Alaji_Mo<\/a>, wrote that she could \u201cpost something else and still get engagement for Elon’s money, no need to drag any religion into your shit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, others agreed with her claim. An example is @BlessingCh73232<\/a>, who said, \u201cThis is what you get in a country and system that has f@iled. They do this everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another user, Abdulfatah Tijjani<\/a>, countered, saying, \u201cWe also have here in the city of Kano, where some churches usually block roads on Sundays during service.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the debate has not yet snowballed, the post is beginning to gain traction. As of March 25, the post has received 13,500 views, 61 comments, and 35 reposts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over time, DUBAWA has observed<\/a> that many religious crises often begin as social media banters. And because this is a sensitive subject matter, we decided to investigate and set the record straight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Verification<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, we examined the photo and observed that the environment did not resemble any known place in Abuja. Likewise, we observed that the traffic direction in the photo is not typical of Nigeria. Nigerians drive on the right side of the road and not the left, as depicted in this image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, while Muslims prayed on one side of the road, one could see a crowd sitting, some kneeling, and others praying with books that looked like Bibles in their hands on the other side. This type of chaos is most common in photos generated artificially.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To confirm this, we subjected the photo to Sightengine<\/a> and ZeroGPT<\/a>, both AI image detectors. Both tools detected 98 per cent of AI properties in the photo, as shown in the results below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
