In recent days, the rising insecurity and violent attacks<\/a> in parts of Jos have drawn widespread condemnation from political leaders<\/a>, civil society groups<\/a>, and public figures<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prominent and influential voices, including celebrities and influencers, have increasingly used their platforms to call for accountability and an end to the killings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Facebook, a group named Plateau State Project 2025 posted<\/a> (archived link<\/a>) that popular afrobeat singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, took his advocacy to the global stage during a performance in London. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the post, he directly addressed Bola Tinubu, urging him to \u201cstop the killing in Nigeria\u201d while holding the Nigerian flag with top London officials. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We observed that the comment section was divided. While the majority supported Davido and called for justice, others noted that the image might not be real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dale Dasgilong James, supporting the post, commented, \u201cI stand with him on that stages they’re killing us in Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another user, Gonet Chinshime, opposing the claim, noted, \u201cThis does not look real, AI is working.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sensitive nature of this claim and the personalities involved led DUBAWA to verify this post. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA conducted keyword searches across major platforms, including Facebook, X, TikTok, and YouTube, using variations of the claim, but we could not find any verifiable video footage showing Davido making the statement or holding a flag during a London performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also found no credible news reports confirming that such an event occurred. Given Davido\u2019s global profile, such a politically charged moment would have attracted significant media coverage if it had happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We then checked the singer’s Instagram<\/a> and X<\/a> accounts for picture evidence, but found nothing. We also went through Davido\u2019s website to see if there was a concert in London. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DUBAWA found out that Davido had announced<\/a> his London tour, scheduled for August. This means that the event has not happened yet, as claimed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We ran the images through Sight Engine<\/a> and Hive moderation<\/a>, tools used to check if images are real or AI-generated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both tools indicated that the pictures were AI-generated and likely deepfakes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
