The acquisition of the aircraft is toward the re-launch of the country\u2019s airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/xDRiY6k098Ykw3Z1JpJLHPLj0T67p4N4uMRkcZH-7LxrmogoT81nKi_Xj0ZRAQSwbXwgagIYkQNcDrbe3eL7qWAKcIm6CS_fuaxTEZRsQWAzCmXyNTGW3Ay45YvgYb-8gAgHD2lE\" alt=\"\" width=\"581\" height=\"261\" title=\"\"><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">In response to the announcement, a section of the public have <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Bridget_Otoo\/status\/1196940582670741505\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">asked<\/a> if the aeroplanes the country intends to acquire belong to the same family of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/least_Imhappy\/status\/1197159464379584513\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">aeroplanes <\/a>responsible for the devastating crash which resulted in the death of all 157 passengers early this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>No, they are not responsible\u2026&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Our checks show it was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boeing.com\/commercial\/737max\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boeing 737 Max 8<\/a> that crashed in March this year. The&nbsp; Ethiopia Airlines carrier, which was flying from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to Nairobi, Kenya, crashed approximately six minutes after takeoff, leading to the death of all passengers who were on board.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/business-47562727\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accident<\/a>, all 371 <a href=\"https:\/\/boeing.mediaroom.com\/news-releases-statements?item=130556\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MAX<\/a> fleet were<a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/news\/updates\/?newsId=93206\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> grounded<\/a> by the company and aviation authorities around the globe. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2019\/mar\/11\/ethiopian-airlines-plane-crash-flight-et302-visual-guide-to-what-we-know-so-far\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Regulators<\/a> in the United States, Australia and other countries suspended operations of the 737 Max in their territories.&nbsp; The company hopes this will be reversed soon for commercial service to begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Here\u2019s what we know about the 787-9 Dreamliner Jets:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The plane is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boeing.com\/commercial\/787\/#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">part<\/a> of a family of three aeroplanes; the 787-8, 787-9 and the 787-10. It was first flown in<a href=\"https:\/\/boeing.mediaroom.com\/2013-09-17-Boeing-Flies-First-787-9-Dreamliner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> 2013<\/a> and certified in 2014. The majority of orders for the 787 have been for the 787-9&nbsp; with <a href=\"http:\/\/active.boeing.com\/commercial\/orders\/displaystandardreport.cfm?cboCurrentModel=787&amp;optReportType=AllModels&amp;cboAllModel=787&amp;ViewReportF=View+Report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">498 deliveries<\/a> made over the years. The <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/travel\/article\/air-new-zealand-787-9-dreamliner\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first delivery<\/a> made to Air New Zealand in 2014. <a href=\"http:\/\/active.boeing.com\/commercial\/orders\/displaystandardreport.cfm?cboCurrentModel=787&amp;optReportType=AllModels&amp;cboAllModel=787&amp;ViewReportF=View+Report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Customers<\/a> of the 787-9 include Air New Zealand, American Airlines and British Airways.\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 787-9 Dreamliner Jets, though made by the same company is a different model from the Boeing 737 Max 8 which crashed in March.
