However, <a href=\"http:\/\/saharareporters.com\/2020\/03\/23\/breaking-buhari%E2%80%99s-chief-staff-abba-kyari-reportedly-sick-suspected-contracting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sahara Reporters<\/a> first broke the news a day before, albeit based on a gut-feeling; the paper later <a href=\"http:\/\/saharareporters.com\/2020\/03\/24\/buhari%E2%80%99s-chief-staff-abba-kyari-tests-positive-coronavirus-confirms-saharareporters-story\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confirmed<\/a> their suspicion the following day when hunch became fact.&nbsp; Kyari, himself further affirmed the revelation in his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premiumtimesng.com\/news\/headlines\/384782-coronavirus-abba-kyari-speaks-from-isolation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> on 29th, where he revealed he would be going to Lagos for further tests and observation. In this statement, released on the 29th of March, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.premiumtimesng.com\/news\/top-news\/388646-exclusive-abba-kyaris-real-date-of-birth-uncovered.html\" target=\"_blank\">Kyari<\/a> announced his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premiumtimesng.com\/news\/headlines\/384782-coronavirus-abba-kyari-speaks-from-isolation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">transfer to Lagos<\/a> for further observation and tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cI am writing to let you know that on medical advice, I will transfer to Lagos later today for additional tests and observation&#8230;\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Supporting this report is the publication by DailyTrust that included Kyari\u2019s arrival in Lagos in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailytrust.com.ng\/breaking-abba-kyari-arrives-lagos-in-air-ambulance.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">air Ambulance<\/a>. He made the statement while responding to questions on whether any private hospital had been accredited for the management of COVID-19. He added that the management of the disease is difficult and can overwhelm private facilities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While the hospital is not an isolation centre, the Lagos State government has said the hospital has the capacity to manage COVID-19 cases and has been accredited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>\u201chospital is a Lagos State designated high care, biosecurity-compliant, COVID-19 facility, accredited by the Health Facility Management and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) of the Lagos State Ministry of Health.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, The Nigeria Medical Association had <a href=\"https:\/\/punchng.com\/treat-covid-19-patients-at-isolation-centres-nma-warns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">warned against<\/a> treating COVID-19 patients outside isolation centres; as &#8220;<strong><em>there are so many things involved which go beyond the expertise of the medical personnel.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Following the death and burial of Kyari, the Lagos state government has ordered for the closure of First Cardiology and suspension of operations at the private hospital for <a href=\"http:\/\/saharareporters.com\/2020\/04\/21\/private-hospital-where-abba-kyari-died-locked-lagos-government-fumigation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">decontamination<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The chain message was accurate concerning Kyari&#8217;s treatment being in a private hospital. The said hospital in Lagos State managed his condition until he died. He also said the department of health would handle the bodies because they are contagious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Yet, on 18th of April, authorities <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.premiumtimesng.com\/news\/headlines\/388557-just-in-abba-kyaris-body-arrives-abuja.html\">released<\/a> Abba Kyari\u2019s body and flew him to Abuja for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premiumtimesng.com\/news\/headlines\/388564-breaking-abba-kyari-buried-in-abuja.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">burial<\/a> at Gudu Military Cemetary. However, the men that buried his remains were ensembled in protective equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Are COVID-19 dead bodies contagious?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), in its <a href=\"https:\/\/ncdc.gov.ng\/themes\/common\/docs\/protocols\/189_1586635002.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Interim Guidelines for the Safe Management of a Dead Body in the Context of COVID-19<\/a>, bodies of coronavirus victims can be infectious only if the pathologist mishandles the patient&#8217;s lungs during an autopsy. The agency further said,<strong><em> &#8220;To date, there is no evidence of infectious bodies of persons who died of COVID-19.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">But NCDC has not stated whether it is right or wrong to release COVID-19 dead bodies for burial but has made provision for family members and friends to view the corpse before burial while making sure to observe certain precautions during and after viewing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>\u201cFamily and friends may view the body after it has been prepared for burial, in accordance with customs. They should not touch or kiss the body and should wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water following the viewing; physical distancing measures should be strictly applied (at least 2 meters between people).\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additionally, the NCDC put guidelines in place for anyone that wants to bury the dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The WhatsApp claim is accurate. However, Lai Mohammed&#8217;s statement that the bodies are contagious is not entirely true. Remains can only be infectious if the Pathologist mishandles the patient&#8217;s lungs of the patients during an autopsy. The statement urged residents to remain calm; further promising that in the future, burial arrangements will be in line with the protocols established by the NCDC.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Conversely, the taskforce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premiumtimesng.com\/news\/top-news\/388899-abba-kyaris-burial-sgf-denies-issuing-statement-over-violation-of-lockdown-rules.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">refuted<\/a> a falsehood circulating on social media; positing the agency gave a would-be apology for violating social-distancing protocols. Notwithstanding, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, subsequently admitted to &#8220;unintentionally&#8221; <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.premiumtimesng.com\/news\/headlines\/388924-abba-kyaris-burial-sgf-mustapha-admits-violations-of-covid-19-protocols.html\" target=\"_blank\">violating<\/a> COVID-19 protocols. Mustapha, who doubles as the head of the Presidential Task-Force (PTF) on COVID-19, made this revelation during a PTF <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premiumtimesng.com\/news\/headlines\/388924-abba-kyaris-burial-sgf-mustapha-admits-violations-of-covid-19-protocols.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">briefing<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory Enforcement Team expressed their aloofness with regards to the burial.
