According to the new Digital 2020 reports \u2013 published in partnership with We Are Social and Hootsuite, the number of internet users in Nigeria increased by 2.2 million (+2.6%) between 2019 and 2020, with internet penetration in Nigeria standing at 42%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/datareportal.com\/reports\/digital-2020-global-digital-overview?utm_source=Reports&amp;utm_medium=PDF&amp;utm_campaign=Digital_2020&amp;utm_content=Dual_Report_Promo_Slide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Globally<\/a>, almost 300 million people came online for the first time between January 2019 and January 2020, with the majority of those users living in developing countries. In January, there were 169.2 million mobile connections in Nigeria. This number increased by 12 million (+7.7%) between January 2019 and January 2020 and is equivalent to 83% of the total population.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, a recent survey conducted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisco.com\/c\/en\/us\/solutions\/collateral\/executive-perspectives\/annual-internet-report\/white-paper-c11-741490.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cisco<\/a> shows that in 2022, online videos will make up more than 82% of all consumer internet traffic globally \u2014 15 times higher than it was in 2017. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insivia.com\/50-must-know-stats-about-video-animation-marketing-2013\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Insivia<\/a> also reports that video viewers retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video, in relation to 10% for readers of the same text in print.
