As seen above, a Facebook page, Badarubala Tv with over 100 followers posted on August 24th, a \u201cbreaking news<\/a>.\u201d This post informed the public that NPower<\/a> has started shortlisting candidates for the two-year programme. The post asked readers to dial a provided code to check their N-Power status. Since being published, this post has generated over 50 shares and one comment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only comment on the post reads: “I check by showing data not found in pre-selected document.\u201d This comment as well as the \u2018Breaking News\u2019\u2019 tag on the post (which is reminiscent of fake platforms) calls for scepticism and the urgent need to fact-check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verification<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Setting out to check this claim, Dubawa found reports from thenationonlineng<\/a> and legit.ng<\/a> both supporting the claims registered in the Facebook post.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both news platforms reported that the minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development,  Sadiya  Farouq, on August 23 has announced the inauguration of  N-Power Batch C (stream 1 ) at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Farouq reportedly said 450,000 have been selected (out of the about six million applications received from applicants) to benefit under the graduate component for Batch C stream 1. She added that the USSD ‘ *45665# ‘ has been secured to provide the connectivity and technical help for the provision of information services to beneficiaries of the programme.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The claims were further affirmed to be true on the N-power website<\/a> as shortlisted candidates were asked to enrol their biometric data to qualify them for the final stage of the N-power Batch C (stream 1) programme. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further, Joshua  Ezra, who is an applicant for the N-power programme, said it is true, adding that the exercise has started since June. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
