President William Ruto directed a crackdown on foreign nationals operating small businesses in the country. Ruto issued the directive while hosting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises traders at the State House.
A Facebook user, Mc Pincode, posted a video on Sept. 15, 2026 (archived here), showing Kenyan masses on the streets reportedly protesting against Kenya’s president, William Ruto, over his decision to expel Nigerians from the East African country.
“As I dey talk to you now, Kenya citizens don enter street dey protest, say their president must comot for street, for wanting (Nigerians) to leave Kenya, say their president must comot for street. As I dey talk to you now, e dey boil for Kenya…” the speaker in the clip claimed.

As of Sept. 17, 2026, the post had attracted more than 26,900 likes and 579 comments.
While some Facebook users who reacted to the post commended Kenyans for condemning xenophobia, others criticised Nigerians for immigrating to Kenya in the first instance.
Junior Clinton wrote, “Now South Africa go think say na AI, the people of Kenya God will continue to bless you my brothers and sisters of Africa.”
Another user, Dotimi Egbide, commented, “Na see finish dey worry Nigeria…if not wetin Nigerians dey find for Kenya.”
Miracle N Nwauba commented, “Together we fix our continent, united we stand, Bob Marley sang Africa unite.”
Assumpta Obiageli asked: “Waitin naija do them? Mek them comot am.”
DUBAWA decided to fact-check the claim as it is occurring at a time when Nigeria recently faced Xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
Verification
DUBAWA conducted a Google Reverse Image Search to determine the video’s origin. The search linked us to similar versions of the clip that have been shared previously.
The videos (see here, here, here and here) show that the incident in the clip the claimant shared actually occurred in 2024. It was an intense protest against a Finance Bill as the youth launched demonstrations against President Ruto’s planned tax hikes.
Other videos (see here and here) show demonstrators standing on top of vehicles and singing the same song heard in the video shared by the Facebook claimant. They were all shared in 2024.
DUBAWA also found that the Kenyan government recently responded to concerns about xenophobia in Kenya by opening registration for foreign nationals without documentation.
Conclusion
The claim is false. The video circulating online was recorded in 2024, during a series of protests against the proposed Finance Bill.
