A Facebook user, Foday Massaquoi, in a social media post, claimed that 90% of Liberia’s population is jobless. Foday Massaquoi is a strong opposition leader who heads the Congress for Democratic Change Council of Patriots (CDC-COP).
The post generated 69 likes, 49 comments, and eight shares up to the time we last checked.

Our researcher reached out to the claimant and requested evidence to substantiate his claim. However, despite repeated attempts, he has not responded to subsequent inquiries.
We then reviewed data from the World Bank on Liberia’s economy, which shows that the rate of unemployment at the end of 2025 was 2.9%. We also reviewed data from Trading Economics Liberia, which also affirms that the unemployment rate in the country stands at 2.9%.
