The Australian government has taken a firm stance against Iran in the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, reinforcing its alignment with the United States and Israel while condemning Tehran’s destabilising actions across the Middle East.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that Australia would not support the Iranian government under any circumstances, citing Tehran’s “long record of destabilisation through ballistic missile programs, nuclear ambitions, and sponsorship of armed proxies.”
In a joint-statement, the Australian government has taken sides with the U.S against Iran, stating that they will do what they can “to prevent Iran from threatening international peace and security.”
Foreign Minister Penny Wong echoed the sentiment, stressing that Iran’s behaviour posed “a direct threat to regional stability and to Australia’s own security.”
However, a Facebook user, Shop A3, alleged that the Australian Government has given a $50 million in aid to Iran.

DUBAWA conducted a Google search and found that the claim had not been reported by any credible news agency.
Secondly, our further search revealed that the report has been taken out of context. According to Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong, $50 million in humanitarian aid was provided to Afghanistan.
As of March 2026, the Australian government clarified that it will not be involved in the war with Iran. However, they considered requests for help from Middle Eastern nations attacked by Iran, according to Foreign Minister Penny Wong. One of the countries benefiting from their support is Afghanistan, and not Iran, as claimed.
