Claim: Amos S Zoe posted in the Bong County Forum claiming that one of the players from the Bong County Team in the county’s meet has died.

Full Text

The National County Meet is an annual sports event organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sport in Liberia. The event features the 15 counties of Liberia competing for the national championship. It is a moment geared towards unity and celebration, bringing citizens together under one umbrella to support and embrace their cultural heritage.

This year’s county meet was occasionally launched in Maryland County on December 13, 2025. The meet is divided into four groups: A, B, C, and D. Bong County is part of Group D, which is hosted in Gbarpolu County. All teams participating in the event are already being stationed in the hosting county.

However, a Facebook user, Amos S Zoe, took to a Facebook group (The Bong County Forum) on December 14, 2025, claiming one of the players on the Bong County team had died. He wrote, “One player on the Bong County team just died. (RIP)”

Verification

DUBAWA firstly contacted the Coach of the Bong County Team in Gbarpolu, Petannie Mulbah, via local communication to ascertain the authenticity of the claim. In response, Mr Mublah told DUBAWA the information was false and that the team members were safe and sound in camp.

“The information is not true; nobody died here. All the players are safe,” Mr Mulbah said.

For further verification, DUBAWA contacted Albert M. Fania, an independent journalist currently covering the county’s meeting in Gbarpolu, via WhatsApp. Albert confirmed to DUBAWA that the allegation is false.
