In recent days, the rising insecurity and violent attacks in parts of Jos have drawn widespread condemnation from political leaders, civil society groups, and public figures

Prominent and influential voices, including celebrities and influencers, have increasingly used their platforms to call for accountability and an end to the killings.

On Facebook, a group named Plateau State Project 2025 posted (archived link) that popular afrobeat singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, took his advocacy to the global stage during a performance in London.

According to the post, he directly addressed Bola Tinubu, urging him to “stop the killing in Nigeria” while holding the Nigerian flag with top London officials.

“DAVIDO SENT A MESSAGE TO TINUBU ON STAGE DURING HIS EUROPE TOUR WHAT JUST HAPPENED IN LONDON SHOCKED EVERYONE…During his tour, Davido didn’t just perform… he **made a bold statement the whole world is now talking about. Standing side by side with top London officials, Davido raised the Nigerian flag high with a powerful message that left the crowd silent, emotional, and speechless: “STOP THE KILLING IN NIGERIA, MR. PRESIDENT,” part of the post reads.

As of Apr. 6, 2026, the post had garnered 229 likes, 74 comments, and 28 shares.

We observed that the comment section was divided. While the majority supported Davido and called for justice, others noted that the image might not be real.

Dale Dasgilong James, supporting the post, commented, “I stand with him on that stages they’re killing us in Nigeria.”

Another user, Gonet Chinshime, opposing the claim, noted, “This does not look real, AI is working.”

The post was also shared here, here, and on Instagram

The sensitive nature of this claim and the personalities involved led DUBAWA to verify this post.

Verification

DUBAWA conducted keyword searches across major platforms, including Facebook, X, TikTok, and YouTube, using variations of the claim, but we could not find any verifiable video footage showing Davido making the statement or holding a flag during a London performance.

We also found no credible news reports confirming that such an event occurred. Given Davido’s global profile, such a politically charged moment would have attracted significant media coverage if it had happened.

We then checked the singer’s Instagram and X accounts for picture evidence, but found nothing. We also went through Davido’s website to see if there was a concert in London.

DUBAWA found out that Davido had announced his London tour, scheduled for August. This means that the event has not happened yet, as claimed.

We ran the images through Sight Engine and Hive moderation, tools used to check if images are real or AI-generated.

Both tools indicated that the pictures were AI-generated and likely deepfakes.

Conclusion

Our findings reveal that Davido did not make such a statement in London, as the London tour is scheduled for August 2026. Also, the image used to support the claim is artificially generated.
