The claim appeared shortly after the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League phase draw, which took place on August 27, 2026. Barcelona were drawn against several high-profile opponents, including Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.

The official Barcelona CF Website continues to list Hansi Flick as the club’s coach. More importantly, on August 31, following Barcelona’s 5–2 victory over Rayo Vallecano, the club published a report titled “Hansi Flick: It’s been a good start to the season”. The report identifies Flick as Barça’s coach and quotes him speaking at a post-match press conference.
This contradicts the claim that Flick had resigned and would leave immediately. However, the club was still publicly presenting him as its head coach and publishing his comments after a competitive fixture.
The Club published on August 22 that “Hans Flick’s team” was beginning the 2026/27 La Liga campaign to win a third consecutive league title, further confirming that he remained in charge at the start of the new season.
