A Facebook post circulating online claims that APC presidential aspirant Mohamed Omodu Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, is dead.
The post, published by a page identified as Radical political movement, carries the words “RIP JAGABAN” alongside photographs of an overturned vehicle, Jagaban, and an APC crowd. It further states: “AAH BO, FINALLY THE APC DON LOST THE 2028 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.”
The post also claims that Jagaban is the only APC politician capable of defeating the SLPP in the 2028 presidential election. The post engagement attracted 5 reactions, 6 comments, and 101 shares.
Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, widely known as MOK Jagaban, is a prominent Sierra Leonean entrepreneur, philanthropist, and political aspirant from Blama, Small Bo Chiefdom. A key figure within the All People’s Congress (APC), he has built a diverse international business portfolio spanning agriculture, care facilities, and the energy sector while dedicating significant resources to grassroots community development, youth empowerment, and women’s economic inclusion in Sierra Leone.
Because the claim has the potential to mislead members of the public about the death of a prominent political figure and the outcome of an election that has not yet taken place, DUBAWA decided to verify it. A similar claim was posted here.
Verification
Checks conducted by DUBAWA found no credible evidence confirming that Jagaban has died.
DUBAWA contacted Honourable David Gbla, a member of Jagaban’s team, who dismissed the claim as false.
The claim that the APC has lost the 2028 presidential election is also false. As of 25 August 2026, the 2028 general election has not been held. The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone continues to undertake preparations for elections ahead of 2028.
The APC is also still in the process of determining its flagbearer for the 2028 presidential election. Reports on the party’s internal electoral process indicate that the National Delegates Conference is expected to elect the party’s presidential flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
Therefore, no person or political party can truthfully claim at this stage that the APC has already won or lost the 2028 presidential election.
Conclusion
The claim that Jagaban has died and that the APC has already lost the 2028 presidential election is False. Honourable David Gbla, a member of Jagaban’s team, has dismissed the claim. Additionally, Sierra Leone’s 2028 presidential election is yet to take place. Therefore, any claim declaring a winner or loser of the 2028 presidential election at this stage is false.
