In April 2026, Kobbie Mainoo, a midfielder with Manchester United, signed a long-term contract with the club until 2031.
This agreement comes as the former deal the young athlete signed in 2023 in England is expected to expire by the summer of 2027 next year. Since then, various claims have been flying on the internet about him.
In one instance, an X user @Esau_Matsiko alleged that the England international is now married with a kid at 19.
“A 19-year-old already has a wife and a kid? Me, I’m here pushing 40, and all I have are my jerseys and rabbits in Kashari,” parts of the caption reads.
Since the post was made on Monday, May 18, 2026, the post has earned over 800,000 views, 450 comments, and 300 retweets.
A review of the comment section shows that although some internet users doubted the accuracy of the post, others believed it.
For example, @Kofiko2000 said: “That’s what good structured systems do. They make life easier and worth living. Here in Africa, we are barely surviving.”
Similarly, @Waporte123 wrote: “Don’t compare yourself to a football player.”
Another user, @OgeneFortunate said: “It’s not age but rather authority to handle responsibilities as a man and father.”
Expressing doubt about the assertion, @Affluent_Seyi wrote: “That’s his sister though, and no, Kobbie Maino does not have a kid yet.”
Another commenter on the social media network, @Choljoey said, “That’s his sister with his nephew. Relax, don’t pressure yourself.”

To forestall the spread of misinformation and due to the personality involved, DUBAWA decided to authenticate the claim’s veracity.
Verification
To verify the authenticity of the post, we scrutinised the media reports to check whether Kobbie’s marriage or childbirth news had earlier been reported, but we found no supporting information.
DUBAWA conducted a Google Reverse Image search on the attached image and found that the photo of the child in the picture had first surfaced online in a post by an Instagram account @amamainoo.
Using the available information, our further keyword searches reveal that both Kobbie and Ama are siblings. Credible news sources like SportBible and EssentiallySports revealed this.
We dug up Ama’s accounts and saw different posts of the child, including a page dedicated to updates from the pregnancy and the child’s growth.
We also observed that Fabrizio Romano, an Italian sports journalist, made a post stating the child is Ama’s.
Also, when a commenter replied to the claimant’s post that the child belongs to Kobbie’s sister, the claimant responded, “We don’t care about facts, agenda only.”
Additionally, DUBAWA reviewed the official account of the young athlete on Instagram but found no supporting evidence on the claim.
Conclusion
Findings by DUBAWA show that the Red Devil player is not married or has a child. The child in the X user’s post is his sister’s child.
