Full Text
A supporter of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change, Foday Massaquoi, has claimed that President Joseph Boakai agreed to give a portion of Liberia’s land to Guinea during a high-level regional meeting in Conakry.
Foday Massaquoi is the chairperson of the Congress for Democratic Change Council of Patriots.
He made the claim during a live interview appearance, which was also shared on his social media page. The claim was made exactly twenty-nine minutes into the live interview.
The live video generated 7 likes, one comment, and one share.
Several other online platforms, including THE CLOSING ARGUMENT and METRO MEDIA, also carried the appearance of Foday Massaquoi on Kings FM live.
DUBAWA decided to conduct a fact check on the claim as part of its efforts to counter misinformation and disinformation in the public and to promote truth-telling in public discourse.
Verification
Our researcher first contacted the claimant to provide evidence to back his claim, but he has failed to respond to inquiries. The researcher then contacted the Presidential Press Secretary, Atty. Kula Fofana, who denied the claim as “untrue.”

According to an Executive Mansion release, at the conclusion of the high-level consultations in Conakry between Presidents Boakai, Maada Bio, and Doumbouya, the three leaders adopted key positions which did not include agreement to take part in Liberia’s land.
The statement reads in part,
“Directed relevant agencies to urgently engage in dialogue to prevent and manage border incidents, facilitate community-level engagement, and advance technical work on border clarification and demarcation with support from regional and international partners;
10. Resolved to strengthen joint border surveillance and conflict prevention initiatives;
11. Agreed to convene a Summit of the MRU within one month to revitalise the Union and enhance regular dialogue on peace, security, and development; and
12. Indicated their intention to undertake reciprocal working visits to further strengthen cooperation, fraternity, and peaceful coexistence.”
Nowhere does it state that Liberia’s land will be given to Guinea. Neither has the claimant provided any evidence of such a claim.
Conclusion
Based on the response from the Presidential Press Secretary and an Executive Mansion release on the outcome of President Boakai’s visit to Conakry, the claim made by Massaquoi is false.
